Let’s talk about downloadable audios

What are you hearing from your library patrons about the new downloadable service?  Check out this article in the Tennessean about its increasing popularity among seniors.

“It has really gone gangbusters,” said Pat Thompson, special projects coordinator for the Tennessee State Library and Archives. “In library service we never know what population is going to take hold. It was an interesting anecdotal discovery to find many elderly people, or people who are a little older, were taking advantage of this program.”

Music Call Number Proposal: Modified ANSCR

For more than 6 years SALS has used the Alpha-Numeric System for Classification of Recordings (ANSCR) for assigning call numbers.  This system allows for a unique call number for every piece of music in your collection.  At the November 20, 2006 Technical Services meeting, a change was presented that will work better with new bibliographic call number procedure that began on November 15, 2006.Continue reading
