Are some of these titles on your shelf?

Weeding is difficult – no doubt about it.  All of the books, DVDs, CDs, VHS, Audiobooks, etc are there for a reason.  Popular demand, a good review, or a gift from well meaning people that want to help us stock our shelves.

I saw two ladies on Jimmy Kimmel the other night.  They write a blog called, Awful Library Books .  Using humor, they illustrate why some outdated books should be removed from our shelves.

Do you have any of these books?  What do you think?

Gaming for Reference Librarians

I thought I would do something different today and offer a challenge.
I was reading the ALA Direct and came across a website offered by Microsoft to “improve search results”
See how well you do on Page Hunt

Object of the game: Look at the website shown and guess the phrase or words that will ‘Hunt” down the website.  The site must be a top 5 hit to win points.

Feel free to leave a comment with you high score.

Happy playing!

What’s your quilty pleasure?

I was sitting with a group of people at ALA midwinter. Making small talk, one woman asked what are you reading now? Not knowing the people very well, I thought do I tell them what I am really reading (guilty pleasure) or what what I am reading (work related). One woman broke the ice and said that she is a Sookie Stackhouse fan. The series is written by Charlaine Harris. Laughter broke out – and each one of us admitted that we were all reading these books.

Care to share your current guilty pleasure book?
