October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), a nationally recognized effort sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance and Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center, to highlight the importance of cyber security. Each week in October is dedicated to a specific cyber security theme to raise awareness across the country and to empower citizens, schools, businesses, and government to improve their cyber security preparedness.

- Week 2 (October 6 – 10): Secure Development of IT Products
- Week 3 (October 13 – 17): Critical Infrastructure and the Internet of Things
- Week 4 (October 20 – 24): Cyber Security for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses and Entrepreneurs
- Week 5 (October 27 – 31): Cyber Crime and Law Enforcement
