Project Outcome: Measuring the True Impact of Public Libraries logoThis webinar is designed to teach participants how to administer Project Outcome surveys to measure outcomes for their library’s summer reading program. By successfully administering surveys, libraries will be able to use the results to showcase program successes and influence future summer reading programs. Participants will hear from one Project Outcome participant who successfully surveyed their summer reading program in 2015 and learned valuable lessons from the process. There will also be a Q&A and discussion segment where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with their peers.

Takeaways

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will:

  • Understand how to successfully measure summer reading programs using the Project Outcome Summer Reading survey;
  • Know how to apply best practices for summer reading surveying; and
  • Be able to use the results to influence changes to future summer programming.

This webinar is open to everyone but will be most beneficial for those already registered with Project Outcome. Project Outcome is a free service provided by the Public Library Association. Instructors

Crystal SchimpfCrystal Schimpf is a library training consultant and co-founder of Kixal, where she provides collaborative, transformative training for libraries and nonprofits. She has provided training on projects for the Urban Libraries Council’s Edge Initiative, the Public Library Association, TechSoup, the Colorado State Library, Community Technology Network, and the R-Squared Conference. Crystal is a degreed librarian with a passion for digital literacy and technology issues and has worked on many projects, programs, and services that require outcome measurement.
Carol OrmondCarol Ormond is the office manager for Salt Lake County (Utah) Library Services and has worked there for 20 years. She has a degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon, and in 2001 she received a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from Brigham Young University. In 2003, she joined the library’s management team as the administrative assistant to the director. She has managed a number of special projects for the library including the operational plan for the library’s Viridian Event Center in 2011, the creation of a library dashboard in 2013, and the Project Outcome implementation in 2015. She also manages the Telephone Customer Service Department.

Tech Requirements

This webinar will be presented using the WebEx platform. You may listen to the audio portion of the webinar via your computer’s speakers, headphones plugged into your computer’s audio jack or USB port; or by dialing in with your telephone (your carrier’s charges may apply) or Skype (by following the process outlined by Skype to place calls to land lines). We suggest that groups, especially larger groups, plan ahead to use an LCD/LED projector in the room to project the webinar. Groups will also want to have speakers or a sound system capable of amplifying the webinar audio for the entire room. No microphone is required.

PLEASE NOTE: PLA provides its webinar audio through voice over IP (VoIP), which means the sound comes through speakers or headphones plugged into your computer. PLA works with its webinar platform provider to assure the highest quality audio is being delivered to attendees. 5-Year Strategic Planning Process Announcement

The Southern Adirondack Library System will soon commence work on its Strategic Plan for 2017-2021; consultants June Garcia and Sandra Nelson will facilitate the process.

On March 9th member library Directors, staff & trustees have been invited to join us to take part in the first stage of the planning process.  This invitation has already been shared with Directors.  We look forward to feedback from our members.
