iPod Compatible eAudiobooks Expands

 On Tuesday, June 16, OverDrive released the new version of OverDrive® Media Console. To download the updated software, click here. All new users will automatically download the latest version, and existing users will need to re-download the software.  There are plans to have a prompt in the near future to let you know that their is a new version.

Nearly all OverDrive WMA Audiobooks on http://salon.sals.edu  are now compatible with the iPod®, iPhoneT, iPod touch®, and iPod nano®, as well as Zune® and thousands of other portable devices, with a simple upgrade of OverDrive Media Console to version 3.2 on Windows® PCs.

National Volunteer Initiative

The American Library Association is working with the White House, in partnership with the Corporation for National & Community Service, to get libraries involved in a national volunteer initiative that will run from June 22 to September 11, 2009.

By early next week, an announcement will come from the White House asking partners, including libraries, to post their local volunteer opportunities online.

Annual Dinner Highlights Leadership

The 2008 Library Trustee and Library Program of the Year Awards were presented at the 51st Annual Meeting.   The SALS Board recognized the hard work done by trustees as well as recognized the good work and excellent services in the member libraries in 2008.  David Bendekovic’s keynote address, The Secret of Success: What world class libraries know and do wrapped up the evening sharing the SALS Board’s sentiment.
