Harm Reduction Vending Machines

10/28/2024

SALS is partnering with NY Matters to bring Harm Reduction Vending Machines to interested member libraries. What’s a Harm Reduction Vending Machine?

It’s a vending machine that looks like a drink or snack vending machine, which houses Narcan, Fentanyl and Xylazine test strips in packs of 10. The machine has a universal code to access the supplies for free, and will dispense up to three supplies at once. There is no limit to how many times someone can enter the code to receive three supplies.

These vending machines are part of an evidence-based strategy to provide easy access to harm reduction supplies to people who want to reduce the number of drug overdoses in the community. Studies have shown that these vending machines help to reduce overdose mortality.

If you would like to consider hosting a Harm Reduction Vending Machine at your library, please join us for an information session at 10 am Monday, October 28 with Mia Dickinson from NY Matters. Register here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/M3CJ8CS.

All registrants will receive a link to the Zoom Meeting.
