Community Education Project Launched by Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), in coordination with its national and local partners, is developing a strategy to help public libraries become the go-to source for unbiased financial education and resources in their communities.  Why libraries?  Consumers may not know where to turn for unbiased help when facing a financial decision or problem and the public library is an important and trusted resource in the community.

Through the project, CFPB will:

  • Provide libraries with a collection of financial education programs, resources and tools
  • Help libraries identify and connect with local partners in their communities
  • Build an online community for local financial education librarians
  • Provide marketing support for financial education in libraries
  • Provide training for library staff and managers

To get involved, contact Senior Content Specialist Dan Rutherford or Strategic Partnerships and Outreach Coodinator Dubis Correal at financialeducation@cfpb.gov.  Please include Community Education Project in the subject line, and provide your name, library, and daytime contact information.
