Employer Guide for Recruiting & Retaining Persons with Disabilities — October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and, in support of the month, the Employment and Training Administration has released a new guide for the business community. Its focus is on targeted resources to help fill workforce needs through recruitment and retention policies that include individuals with disabilities.
SCSEP: Kick Start Your Job Search — The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) aims to help older unemployed Americans find jobs by providing job training and employment assistance to participants. This previously recorded webinar discusses how to equip older community members with the necessary skills they need to engage in today’s workforce.
Prison Entrepreneurship Program (PEP) — This article highlights a Houston based non-profit organization that provides business education courses to offenders both before and after their release. Many of those participating in the program have been able to successfully start their own small businesses. In addition, graduates of the program have significantly lower rates of recidivism.
