Enjoy popular titles from the comfort of home

Southern Adirondack Library On-demand is proud to offer you popular downloadable audiobooks, accessible 24/7. Joining top rated libraries like Boston, Denver, New York, and Cleveland, we are excited to announce this at-home service for a new way to enjoy your library.

With hundreds of popular and classic titles to select from, our digital collection is guaranteed to have something for everyone. Offering popular fiction and non-fiction, our “Virtual Branch” spans nearly every genre. You can download best-selling books, literary classics, self-improvement guides, and more.

Getting started is easy! Visit our website, http://salon.sals.edu, install the free software, browse the collection, and add titles to your cart. Check out with a valid library card and download titles to a personal computer or laptop. When the download process is complete, you can enjoy titles on your Windows or Mac computer or transfer to supported devices, like an MP3 player or Apple iPod. Many audio titles can be burned to CD to listen in the car.

So what’s the catch? There is none. Digital downloads are easy to check out and download, and the best part is- there are never any late fees because your titles are automatically returned at the end of the lending period.

What a selection! The move to Overdrive was a great decision. I downloaded the software and the first book to my Creative Mozaic in less than five minutes. Works like a charm.

Very disappointing. I can only assume that overdrive is a lot cheaper than netlibrary. I can think of no other reason for this change. Over the past 2 years, I have listened to around 70 nonfiction audiobooks downloaded easily from netlibary (no downloading software necessary). Now there are only 64 total nonfiction titles on overdrive! And why are these titles being treated as physical media? If I check out a title, no-one else can? I can’t check out “American Lion – Andrew Jackson in the White House” because someone else did? Come on, SALS, this is the 21st century. The file is not GONE while it is checked out. Netlibary was not like this. This is a giant step backward. Don’t tell me that it’s free and I should be fortunate with what they provide. I pay taxes in Glens Falls.

Here is a partial list of the audiobooks I have listened to from netlibary over the past 2 years:

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment.

It was a group decision made by library directors to try Overdrive to see if it met the listening/reading needs of the people in our region.

Titles are being added throughout the year – on a timely schedule. I have forwarded your comment to the people that are selecting the titles.

If you have specific title suggestions, and if they are available through Overdrive, every consideration will be given to add them to the collection.

All listeners/readers should contact their local public library with title suggestions.

    Again, thank you.
