Bloggers, how do you manage your posts and comments?

August 7th, 2007 · 3 Comments

Is your front page cluttered?  When you click on a category can you find what you are looking for?   If you are a prolific blogger, you might want to consider cleaning up your posts and comments if they have served their need (example: past events)

Please submit a comment and let us know how long you think posts and comments should be retained.Â

Seth Godin, probably the blogging guru, keeps his posts for years. They are a source of great timeless information. I think it depends on the purpose of your blog. If you’d like to check out his blog, it’s at http://sethgodin.typepad.com/. I learn something new every time I visit it!

I guess a good question is if there is any strain on the system to leave the posts up indefinitely? I took my original limit of 10 and the SALS limit of 3 and met it in the middle. It seems to work so far and patrons can still search to see all of the past items. Just surious of what the norm is…

What about responses to a post?

To the best of my knowledge, there is not a strain on the system to leave the posts or comments archived indefinitely.
