Glad you asked. I am a volunteer weather observer for wrgb.
My reports are usually listed on channel 6 in the early morning.
We had 14 inches of snow from 10 pm Tuesday to 10 pm Wednesday.
Great fun for weather watchers. Rita
I think we got 2 – 3 feet of snow.
We shovelled out yesterday and then discovered the library was closed!
I watched some DVR shows I have been meaning to see.
And I started on a craft project: I am creating scarves – really like saris -
for my daughter’s wedding party. Her fiance is from Sri Lanka and they all thought it would be great to have a Sri Lankan touch.
Today it was actually harder – much colder – and the plow had piled up a wall at the foot of the driveway! Not to mention that there is precious little parking available…
I feel a little cheated – we aren’t open on Wednesdays. I spent the day working on a quilt and reading.
Today I had to walk to work in the road – the sidewalks haven’t been plowed yet. It definitely looks like winter now, we had 2-3 feet of snow. The river looks like a field of snow.
We got the cars dug out, the driveway clear, and we were ready to roll – until our neighbor’s snow came cascading off his roof smashing down on our cars and driveway.
So we were granted the opportunity to dig out once again. Fortunately the snow and ice landed on the cars and not on anyone.
I took the opportunity of a found day to organize and label some of the thousands of photos, floppies of photos, cd’s of photos, and greeting cards I can’t part with into some sort of organization with the hope when I pass on my children will not throw them in the dump. I think it must be that library organization thing I’ve got going!
24 inches where I live.
I lost four hours of vacation time I had previously put in for!
But my Valentine was home with me so it was a good day.
I have forwarded two “storm stories” by e-mail (is that now “the old-fashioned way”?
I live pretty close to Peggy and we had 21.5 inches. It was absolutely gorgeous this morning from 8:30 till 11, bright sunshine and no wind. After shoveling out we went for a walk around two neighborhoods. It was kind of funny to see all the people with snow blowers each wearing one of those hats with a visor and ear flaps along with an unfastened strap.
Great thread! We had over two feet of snow – still made it in to open the library for the two patrons that needed us! Lots of fiddly work got done though so that was good. Laura, our director, got her car stuck because most of the snow fell while we were inside our humble home! It is beautiful though…
My self-appointed job was to keep the deck and steps clear throughout the day, knowing our plow man would be by at least twice and my husband would take care of the walkways later with the snow blower.
It is always nice to have a plan, but it is also good to have a backup action-plan! At 5 pm I learned that our long-time and trusted plow man decided not to plow this year! About the same time, I learned that my husband was in Troy helping his elderly father with snow removal and other problems that occurred, so he wouldn’t be home till quite late.
I managed to get our tempermental snowblower started and just kept at it. Our driveway is about 250 feet long, the snow was 2 foot deep with drifts 3 to 4 feet and a solid wall of packed snow at the top of the drive from the county plows. I didn’t know I had it in me, but I cleared a path wide enough for a vehicle to come down the drive way and cleared most the of parking/turn around area, and all the walk ways! My arms were so sore the next day!
So, if you know of anyone in the town of Stillwater – Saratoga Lake area who plows and wants to take on another client – send them my way!
I took one look out the window, pulled on my wool socks, and didn’t put on shoes for the entire day. Read “Man in the Middle” by Brian Haig and watched “The Thin Man” for the millionth time. It’s still great. Neither I nor any of the six cats set foot out the door.

Here in Lake Pleasant we have between 39 and 42 inches.
We are still digging out. It feels like you are driving in a tunnel going down the road.
