Applications Due for ALA Leadership Academy

Applications for the 2015 “Leading to the Future” ALA Leadership Institute (Aug. 9-13, Eaglewood Resort, Itasca, Illinois) are accepted through April 8, 2015.

The application form and details and guidelines are at http://www.ala.org/transforminglibraries/ala-leadership-institute. Applicants may nominate themselves or be nominated by their employer. Participation includes a free one-year membership in LLAMA (Library Leadership and Management Association).

The institute helps future library leaders develop and practice their leadership skills in areas critical to the future of the libraries they lead. Participants in 2013 and 2014 highlighted a wide range of benefits, describing it as a “life-changing time” and that it felt like a think tank of 40 “energetic, talented, and visionary” librarians from all types of libraries. One-hundred percent of attendees gave the 2014 ALA Leadership Institute the top rating possible in the post-event survey, with comments such as “This is the best institute on the topic of leadership that I have ever attended!” Comments from 2013 and 2014 participants are on the Transforming Libraries website.
