LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, etc.) youth, like all young people, deserve a library environment that is safe, supportive, and welcoming. This collaborative workshop will provide ideas, strategies and suggested policies that will help us make our libraries places where LGBTQ youth and their families find helpful guides, information, and books that reflect their experience.

The goal is of Ready to Read is to enable all NY public libraries to improve the quality of their early learning services.

In this three hour workshop you will:

  1. Learn to pull together information about young families and the early literacy landscape for them
  2. Synthesize and distill the information so that improvements can be made at your library and within yourself
